Thermogreen: a glass roof terrace configurator priced from Mendix

Thermogreen AG is a family business in Switzerland that has been building glass roof terraces since 1991. Their solutions connect the interior of a house to the garden, using modern, high-quality materials across projects from the simple to the complex.
As their online presence grew, they needed a 3D product configurator that let visitors build their own residential or commercial roof — and that priced it from the system they already ran.
What the client needed
A user-friendly interface
Visitors needed to be able to build their own residential or commercial roofs without training.
Live pricing from Mendix
The configurator had to pull real-time pricing from Mendix, the company’s ERP, while the user was creating their roof.
A second interface for sales
The company required a second user interface to help sales staff quickly quote roof designs on site or in their showrooms.
The solution
Thermogreen selected the Simplio3D Enterprise plan, because they needed to connect the existing pricing system in Mendix to the 3D configurator and to have a user account system. The core of Simplio3D was implemented first and then customised to their requirements.
The most challenging part of the implementation was the custom UI layout, designed from scratch. It had to stay intuitive while exposing the complex features their products carry. The configurator includes complex conditional logic options and a pricing system that was only solvable on the Enterprise plan, which allows part of the Simplio3D platform itself to be customised.

What a project like this would add today
The description above reflects what was actually implemented at the time. A team starting the same project now would also have these options available:
- Build a starting point with AI. Simplio3D can generate a working configurator from a product description, and its AI assistant can audit an existing project for option coverage and gaps in conditional logic.
- Connect an AI agent over MCP. The MCP server lets an assistant such as Claude connect with a scoped token and inspect real projects — introspecting a model, evaluating conditional logic or calculating a price — under a controlled-write model that proposes changes before applying them.
Neither was part of the original implementation.
