Iberica Stone: a 3D table configurator with built-in AR

Iberica Stone: a 3D table configurator with built-in AR

Iberica Stone sells premium stone tables, where the slab is the product. Two customers ordering the same model can end up with pieces that look entirely different depending on the stone, the shape of the top and the dimensions they choose.

That is difficult to sell from a photograph, so the company wanted customers to explore the customisation options themselves — before committing to a piece that is made to order.

What the client needed

Explore every option before buying

The client wanted a digital solution that would let customers explore all the customisation options — stone type, surface shape, dimensions and leg styles — before making a purchase.

A better shopping experience

The goal was to make choosing a made-to-order stone table interactive rather than a matter of interpreting a specification list.

A simpler sales process

Enquiries needed to arrive with the specification already resolved, rather than starting a round of clarification.

The solution

Iberica Stone chose the Starter plan, which gave them a 3D customisation tool without a complex setup or expensive add-ons. In the configurator, customers can:

  • select their preferred slab design;
  • choose the top surface shape;
  • adjust width, length and thickness;
  • add legs in a preferred colour.

The tool also included augmented reality by default, so customers could see the table they had configured in their own room. Once satisfied, they could submit a quote request directly through the platform.

The customer journey

  1. Choose the slab

    The customer picks the stone design, which sets the character of the whole piece.

  2. Set the shape and size

    Top surface shape, then width, length and thickness adjusted to the space the table is going into.

  3. Pick the legs

    Leg style and colour selected against the chosen top.

  4. See it in the room

    AR places the configured table at true scale in the customer’s own space, which is the fastest way to check that a large stone piece fits.

  5. Request a quote

    The finished configuration is submitted as a quote request through the platform, so the enquiry arrives fully specified.

Results

An interactive buying experience

Users could explore every detail of their table, making the buying experience interactive and enjoyable.

AR answered the sizing question

AR visualisation helped customers see exactly how the table would look in their space.

Fewer manual follow-ups

The quote request feature streamlined enquiries, reducing manual follow-ups and speeding up the purchasing process.

No complex setup required

The Starter plan offered the essential tools for a highly personalised experience without expensive add-ons.

What a project like this would add today

The description above reflects what was actually implemented at the time. A team starting the same project now would also have these options available:

  • Build a starting point with AI. Simplio3D can generate a working configurator from a product description, and its AI assistant can audit an existing project for option coverage and gaps in conditional logic.
  • Connect an AI agent over MCP. The MCP server lets an assistant such as Claude connect with a scoped token and inspect real projects — introspecting a model, evaluating conditional logic or calculating a price — under a controlled-write model that proposes changes before applying them.

Neither was part of the original implementation.

Building a table configurator?

Made-to-size tables price naturally from their dimensions, which is what a pricing formula is for.
